Parking meters and Littering in Cincinnati

Parking meters:
Starting Today parking meter rates will double to $2.00 an hour downtown. Garages are also raising rates at varies prices around downtown.
The first 10 minutes at all meters will remain free.
After the jump in rates, Cincinnati will be one of the most expensive downtown areas to to park in the Mid-West.

The new revenue from the increased parking meter fees will go towards solar powered kiosks that will eventually take credit cards or even loadable smart carts to pay for parking, eventually eliminating the need for coins to pay for parking downtown.

Littering:
Fines for littering in Cincinnati jump to as much as $1,000 for anyone caught dumping over a trash can.

For other kinds of littering - in parks, for throwing a cigarette butt on the sidewalk or tossing something out a car window the fine will be $500.

The $1,000 and $500 fines are mandatory so there will be more tickets given out.
